VW T25 - What do you want it for?

February 27th, 2009

If you have decided to get a VW camper van, you’re likely to have some idea of what you’re going to use it for. It’s worth asking some searching questions, so you’re really clear before you buy.

So what do you want your VW t25 for? Do you want something you can go out for the day in, maybe make yourself a cuppa in – or enjoy a grand picnic from food stored in your ‘fridge? Do you want to take off for weekends, holidays – or whole summers? How many do you want it to sleep? Do you want a high-top, tin-top or pop-top? Petrol or diesel? Do you want a wreck, or substantial project? Do you want something that needs just a little TLC? Do you want to get in and go in a holiday-ready van? Do you want something you can customise, fit it out with a home cinema, custom paint job and fancy wheels? Our advice is to think long and hard about all these options because, if you’re anything like us, it may be that you won’t know what it is you really want until you’ve been looking a while

BUT they’re all getting older so do look carefully before you buy. VW t25s are prone to rust and the other problems you’d expect with a 20-year old vehicle. It really is worth asking exactly what it is you want and being clear before you buy a wreck, when you’d rather being bumming round Europe, or before you acquire a nicely done up VW T25, when you’d rather be tinkering in the garage. The VW T25 was made from 1980 to 1991. Maybe they’re not as iconic as the earlier bays and splitties – but the VW T25s are larger, cheaper to buy, and a whole lot more comfortable.
